Starting in Hanoi, this 8-day loop drives straight into the high-altitude terrain of the Hoang Lien Son range. The route weaves through deep river valleys and high mountain ridges carved with centuries-old agricultural trails.

Day 1: Hanoi to Mai Chau Valley
(5–6 Hours Saddle Time)

Cut straight through Hanoi’s urban fringe onto quiet rural back-lanes heading southwest. The asphalt quickly gives way to unpaved dirt tracks, gravel paths, and twisting trails through karst limestone corridors. As the route climbs into the mountains, you will hit technical rocky single-track and red-clay paths cutting directly through remote ethnic White Thai farming settlements. The day finishes with a sweeping dirt descent into the green basin of Mai Chau Valley for a traditional homestay night.

Day 2: Mai Chau to Moc Chau Plateau
(6 Hours Saddle Time)

Kick off early with a steep climb out of the valley on loose shale paths and narrow forestry trails. Today is heavy on off-road variety, transitioning from thick bamboo groves to open plateau tracks. You will negotiate technical switchbacks, deep ruts, and slick limestone steps before reaching the highland tea estates of Moc Chau. The final stretch delivers fast-paced hard-pack dirt riding through expansive rolling green plantations at over 1,000 meters elevation.

Day 3: Moc Chau to Ta Xua Cloud Mountain
(6–7 Hours Saddle Time)

This is the expedition’s marquee enduro stage. Drop off the plateau via steep, rocky descents and cross remote mountain streams to reach the base of the Ta Xua range. From here, the route turns into a relentless climb up loose gravel tracks and narrow dirt paths hugging sheer cliff edges. You’ll throttle up past 1,800 meters to reach the legendary “Dinosaur Spine” ridgeline, navigating exposed mountain trails with massive drop-offs and panoramic views across the valley cloud inversions.

Day 4: Ta Xua to Hanoi
(5–6 Hours Saddle Time)

Begin with an early-morning descent down the misty ridges of Ta Xua on slick clay trails and rocky double-track. Once off the high peak, the route follows technical dirt paths and rural tracks running parallel to local riverbeds and farming hamlets. After linking up with winding mountain asphalt for the final pass, you’ll cruise the rural back-roads along the Red River delta before rolling back into Hanoi to wrap up the ride.
